I do feel bad for the town of McGregor this past year because of all the construction and road closure. I was impressed right off the bat at this restaurant at the interior as it looked really cool and had a nice atmosphere. The waitress was really great at first. Until she wasn't. We had 12 people in our group and one of them complained about one of the appetizers she ordered and from that point on she was annoyed with us. She literally argued with the customer about the dip. The chips had no seasoning and the bloody Mary was one of the worst I've ever had. The food was average and I probably would not go again.
I stopped in with my boyfriend around 2pm on a Saturday. The staff was nice, the people at the bar were generally in a good mood. My boyfriend and I split a flight and even found a beer we got to go. I ordered a patty melt and it was one of the best I've had.
Great lunch. We enjoyed a Patty Melt and Steak Sandwich. The flight of 7 beers were all delicious. We will be back.
Wow! Excellent food, great service. Liked it so well that we returned two days later! Had a great vegan burger and sweet potato fries (I'm not vegan). Their soups are very good too.
Soups made from scratch, artichoke app was delicious and beer refreshing .
Currently, the area is under construction, and it's confusing to get there, but it's worth it the trip. Plus, you are supporting local businesses that might be suffering for the necessary construction.
First time here. Jace was our waiter and he was excellent. Very knowledgeable of the drinks and the menu. We also heard him telling other couples about the area. Both the service and the food was very good. Their bread was amazing. Pictured is the Mississippi Burger, the salmon and the bread you get with a meal.
If you haven't been here, we would highly recommend.
We travel through MacGregor quite often while enroute to Wisconsin on the other side of the river from MacGregor. When we do we make it a point to stop in MacGregor, generally for lunch, as we always make a significant effort to support local businesses whenever we travel. Stopped in the Old Man River and Brewery for lunch and sadly, left quite disappointed. This was in December and the place was absolutely freezing inside to the point we had to keep our coats on to eat. Despite being the only diners in the place our order was mixed up the first time (incorrect sides), but the server did take both orders back and fixed them. The steak sandwich appeared to be of the partially pre-cooked, processed-type rather than prepared onsite from scratch. Even if not, it tasted like it. Bland and totally uninspiring. The Rueben was fine but nothing special. Also, cash only, no credit cards. Finally, and perhaps most disappointing of all, was the person who I assume to be the owner, in a futile attempt to be funny, came off instead as sarcastic and rude, as he openly mocked us for simply wanting to watch the train pass through town before coming inside to eat. “What, first time you’ve ever seen a train?” Quite offensive. No, not the first time I’ve ever seen a train but certainly the last time we will ever stop at your place.
Nice atmosphere good beer personally menu was on pricey side 18.00 for a sandwich and fries seemed a bit much. Pizza is good.
